Holiday Storage, Is it a Must?

From Granny's Halo, to little Larry's Lego's, we find ourselves in a world of excess.

We simply have more than we need and refuse to part with it.  To add to it, we have commercial holidays like Halloween and Christmas that demand the need for MORE; More money, more food, more decorations, and just plain ol' more STUFF.  However, while it is hard to stop the momentum of a moving culture, we do not need to be sucked into the vortex of MORE CLUTTER.

One remedy this season is to find a place to store your holiday decorations, your summer clothes, your bass boat, and even tools.  Make room for family to stay by clearing out the basement and the attic.  Make room in the shed for the mower, and easy access to the snow blower.

Many people are turning to storage for such needs, and we at Star Storage Self Storage in Grandview, Mo want to help meet that need.  We are trying to be the best Storage Facility in Kansas City and currently have some of the best reviews on the web (look for yourself).  In fact, if you tell us you read this we will give you $100 or more toward your storage needs.
Have a Blessed holiday season,
From us at Star Storage.

  3. Most people have things that we don't need and no place to put them. This is why storage has become a huge business. The way we shop now and our addiction to holding on to things we need self storage in every town as our kids get older and our collection of stuff gets out of hand. With a quick search online I am sure anyone can find local facilities.

  15. Holiday storage is a must at our house! Keeping a storage unit organized is crucial for finding things. My mom always categorized our holiday supplies buy purchasing totes in holiday colors -- orange for Halloween, red for Christmas, and blue for the 4th of July. This has been passed on to me.

  16. In all my years of looking at storage units I've never seen anyone use storage containers. I think it's a really good idea that I'm going to have to steal! If I can't kick the urge to be a pack rat I might as well become an organized one! http://www.mybulldogstorage.com/sizes

  17. I have so many holiday decorations. They take up the most room in my storage room. My storage room is packed and running out of space for my other things. I think it is a great idea to buy a storage unit for my decorations. It would save me a lot of space in my home.

  18. Thank you for the post. I needed this boost to motivate myself to organize! I love the tall shelving with storage bins, especially the clear ones. It helps to see what types of things are in each bin in order to quickly get to what you need.

  19. When we get close to the holidays we always dig into our storage. Whether it's for decorations, or to put away things we don't need anymore. Regardless, holidays are always the times we use storage the most.

  21. We have been using our attic for holiday storage for the last few years. It wasn't until recently when we started thinking about a storage unit. Having to crawl up and down the ladder at my age starts taking a toll around the holidays.

  22. I love decorating my house for Christmas, but it doesn't really have enough room for all of the decorations I put up every year. I think that having a storage unit will be very useful for keeping my Christmas decorations in a secure place. It also seems like an effective way to hide the kid's Christmas presents. They find them every year, so I think that putting presents in storage would be a sure fire way to make sure they don't find their presents until Christmas morning. Thanks for the post!

  25. This talk of storing holiday decorations reminds me of myself. I have an addiction to buying Christmas decorations every year and I've been running out of places to store all the stuff I've bought. I think having a storage unit to store seasonal items is a good idea. Is it cost effective to rent a storage unit all year long? http://www.amstorage.com

  26. I really needed to read this article. Christmas is a big deal at my house, and my basement is full of boxed decorations. For most of the year, we can't even access that part of the house. If we moved our collection to a self storage unit, we would have another bedroom.

  27. Holiday storage is VERY important! I can't speak for the rest of you but my family has so many holiday decorations and we can't find them all in our storage at our house. I would like our storage to look like the last 2 pictures. It looks like it would be very easy to find what you need to in there.

  28. Holiday storage seems like it would be a good thing to have. I have a bunch of holiday decorations that I keep in my house, but I only take it out once a year. I could use that space in my house for other purposes all year round. It would be nice to have a separate space to put all of my decorations.

  32. I've been thinking about getting a storage unit for my grandmother and all her decorations. She buys them for all the different holidays and she's keeping them to pass on to whoever wants them. Until then, she needs a place to store them. http://www.eastlakesselfstorage.net.au/facility

  33. It took my mom a number of years, but she finally got her decorations organized into a system. Decorating the house between holidays was a pain because trying to find the new decorations and putting the old ones away took way longer then it should have. It used to be the most feared chore of the house, but now it isn't too bad as long as the system holds up.

  34. I have heard of some people that go with shared storage units, especially with cars. Then they show up one day and they have parts missing from their car. Private storage units is the way to go for stuff you don't want your stuff messed with. http://midwaymoving.com/residential-secure-storage/

  35. If you have as many holiday decorations as my mom, then storage is definitely a must. I can't believe how much she has, and she gets new stuff every year. I think we're going to give her a few months payment of a storage unit for Christmas this year. She really needs it. http://www.townandcountrystorage.com/huntersville-nc/

  36. My family was the family that had a whole other home in storage to bring out during christmas. For 11 months of the year our home looked one way, but on that last month, you would have thought saint nick had his summer home at our residence in texas. It accentuated the excitement I felt as a child.

  37. I think my fiance and I will have to do this. We have a small place and his mom gave us all of her old Christmas decorations. While that was super great, now we don't have room for them once Christmas is over! It's not a whole lot of stuff so a small unit should be enough.

  40. I think that getting storage for my holiday decorations is a great idea. They just take up space in my home all year, and only come out in December. 41. I would agree that getting a storage unit for the holiday season would be a good thing. There is always a lot going on and moving things around. I know that we should of got one at my home since we literally have no space to put things. I think that for next year we will get one for sure. http://www.silverlakemarine.com/includes/page.asp?page=15&sys=1&flash=services

  42. My mom recently moved into a smaller place that she and my youngest brother are going to stay in while he's in college, because I and my other siblings are married now. She realized when she moved that she doesn't need as many holiday decorations, so all of us got some of her decorations. The problem she has now is not having room for the decorations that she can and will use. I have never thought about using a storage unit for anything like this, but it does make sense. That way she would be able to keep the things that she'll use, without having to sacrifice room in her new house.

  43. I can see how getting some sort of storage unit would really help during holiday season. I always end up getting so much presents for my friends and family, so something like this would be perfect for me. I guess I'll just have to invest in one next year.

  46. I love storing my holiday decorations in a storage unit. It frees up so much room in my house. I remember when my wife and I first moved all of the stuff out of the house and into the storage unit. It was like we had a brand new room available to us and we hardly had to work for it. We converted that space into a gym room and we wished that we moved all of that stuff out years ago.

  48. It's definitely nice to have a storage unit to store things like holiday decorations and other seasonal items when you're not using them. I'm actually trying to find a good storage facility for exactly that reason right now. My basement is far too cluttered with things that we only pull out during certain seasons, so I want to have a place to keep it all until we need it.

  49. I have probably eight full tubs of Christmas supplies in the garage right now. They take up an incredible amount of space, and I really only need them for one month of the year. I don't want to get rid of anything essential, so a storage unit sounds like a great idea. http://www.montgomeryvillextraspacestorage.com/
